After the Short Programs, everything is still possible at the Finnish Nationals

The first day at Finnish Nationals has been really tight, exciting and full of powerful performances. On Saturday, the Senior and Junior teams have performed impressive short programs in Espoo Metro Arena. The Novice competition was also skated on Saturday.

In Seniors, TeamrnUnique is in the first place after the short programs. They got 78,40rnpoints with their confidently skated program "Bad Que". The performance wasrnenergetic, intense and full of quick and strict details.

The second, HelsinkirnRockettes, is really not far behind. Their "Alarm" themed program brought them 78,21rnpoints and they gathered the best technical element score of the day despiternone unfortunate fall. The performance was full of passion and determination.

rnrnMarigold IceUnity is the third with 75,98 points. Theyrnskated the "Escape room" program cleanly with good speed but didn’t get all therntechnical levels.

In the fourth place is Lumineers with 70,19rnpoints. Their beautiful and classical short program was really successful entityrnand sensitively interpreted. Lumineers improves from competition to competition and is now very close to the leading teams.

Team Fintastic, leader in Juniors

In the Juniorrncategory, Team Fintastic is leading the competition. They earned 72,42rnpoints with their beautiful and lyrical short program "Sound of Silence". The programrnwas strong and powerful wholeness and the score was their seasons best.

The second, Dream Edges, is twornpoints behind the leader. They gathered 70,42 points with their "Addiction" themed program. The performance was effective and accurate withrninteresting and unexpected details.

rnrnNot far behind, in the third place is Musketeersrnwith 69,86 points. They skated their "Scorpion Attack" program with goodrnconfidence and intense attitude.

In the fourth place is Team Mystique withrnpoints 69,47. So they are also really near the podium and the national medals. 

The twelve best Junior teams from Finland are competing in this event.

Finettes first in the Novice category

Finettes took the gold medal in the Novice categoryrnearning 92.59 points. Their program "Invisible Guardian" captured the audiencernwith powerful performance and skillful speed. Their performance didn’t leavernany questions.

Like last year in Nationals, the second was Team Dynamiquernwith 84.43 points. They started the whole competition day and took thernaudience on a journey with their beautiful "Dreaming in New York" program.

rnrnStarlightsrnhad a really tight fight for the silver medal. They earned 84.35 pointsrnwith the program "Are we losing the glaciers" and was finally third having only 0,08rnpoints difference to the second place. 

From 58.22 to over 92 points, the scores are very high for novices, proving the quality and skills of these young skaters. A total of 12 novice teams competed in Espoo on Saturday.

Thernthrilling competition continues on Sunday when Seniors and Juniors skate theirrnfree programs. Everything is possible and especially in Seniors, the stakes arernheavy because the places to the World Championships are selected based on thernresults. It is clear that there is no space for mistakes when every team wantsrnto win!
